WELCOME
II have created this atlas to help practitioners diagnose ocular tumors and learn clinical signs.
I have also included some information on treatment.
This atlas is intended only for practitioners providing care related to ocular oncology.
I regret I have had to suspend the atlas, hopefully temporarily, until I ensure that it is fully GDPR compliant. I apologise for the inconvenience.
Ocular tumors are so rare and diverse that one cannot expect a non-specialist to know enough about the subject. It is therefore necessary to be able to find the relevant information quickly and easily. Conventional atlases are unhelpful because the contents are ordered according to diagnosis. Unless one already knows the diagnosis one cannot find the required information and unless one finds this information one cannot learn the diagnosis.
This atlas therefore organizes lesions according to their location and color. This will hopefully enable practitioners to diagnose conditions they don't even know exist. Of course, not all lesions can be identified by inspection alone and special investigations such as biopsy may be required. Furthermore, diagnosis requires not only knowledge but the ability to see the clinical signs in the first place.
To enable self-testing, figure captions are hidden, but will appear on hovering over the figure or clicking on it.
I must emphasise that this is very much a personal perspective, because others in the field hold opinions that are very different from my own.
It would be most helpful if you could spend a few moments to provide some feedback (anonymously if you prefer).
Please read my Cautions before starting.
I hope you find the atlas interesting and useful.
